WISE

This animation shows how WISE will communicate with the ground when it is not within the horizon of a ground station. NASA has a constellation of communications satellites orbiting Earth called TDRSS. When WISE is not in direct contact with a ground station it can communicate with one of the TDRSS satellites that is within its view, then the TDRSS satellite will convey the signal down to Earth, directly or through another TDRSS satellite.
